Changing Worlds can offer the unique opportunity to work in zoos in the Brisbane region of South East Queensland in Australia.
Equally we have now introduced a new placement to Mendoza zoo in Argentina and the city zoo in Yantai in China!
These highly popular placements last upto three months and give the opportunity to look behind the scenes of a working zoo.
As a volunteer you can expect to join a highly enthusiastic and motivated team of people who work endlessly in the interest of the animals, birds and reptiles in their care.
These placements suit those people who wish to work in the sector in the future or have some real experiences of working with exotic animals.
Sadly it is not about cuddling animals all day – work begins before the visitors arrive in the morning with cleaning chores, feeding and watering and general zoo maintenance. Once the visitor’s start arriving then you can find yourself selling entry tickets, providing guided tours or organising lunch for lots of excited children.
In Australia you will live with host families close to the zoo. You can take a bus or pedal in to and from work every day.
In Argentina you live in a rented apartment in the centre of Mendoza. You will take a bus ride to and from work every day.
In China you will live in a hostel close to the zoo. The hostel is in the city of Yantai and you will be able to walk to and from the placement.
