Changing Worlds is keen for our volunteers to make a real difference.
As you know we are associated with a number of schools and orphanages all around the World.
We are also proud to be associated with a number of valuable community development projects.
In Southern India we have been not only working with young people but have been placing people to work with many disadvantaged groups.
Women in Tamil Nadu are still seen as second class citizens. Our volunteers help give them increased confidence, independence and empowerment teaching them how to be self sufficient and able to cope for themselves and their families. In the past volunteers have helped build clay ovens, weave baskets and create jewellery. Our volunteers have also supported the micro - credit schemes where women learn basic accounting skills and how to set up and control a bank account.
In India disabled children and adults can be ostracised by the local communities particularly in the more rural districts. In the past volunteers have helped create touch sensitive playgrounds and gardens, design and create a farm for crops, animals and fish and helped in physiotherapy.

Changing Worlds is keen to help make a difference in Eastern Europe. We are sending volunteers to work with disadavantaged children and adults in Latvia and Serbia. With the collapse of the Iron Curtain in the early nineteen nineties there has been huge changes in each of these countries. Increased wealth and influence from the West has brought a bright future to these emerging nations. However this has led to the collapse of the State supporting systems and for many groups this has worsened their fate. The very old, the infirm, mentally and physically handicapped people are finding that systems once in place are now at the whim of the free market. as a result they are no better off now than they were under the Communists.
In Madagascar the Pioneer programme has been associated with the long term development of local communities in the Fort Dauphin region.
Here volunteers work side by side with the villagers on projects that they initiate and they get the benefit - in the past volunteers have built wells, schools and community centres as well as helped in the reforestation of decimated rainforest environments.
