Photos from your Australia gap year

On the Gold Coast you will be expected to work shifts and some weekends. However the more you work the greater your pay. You will be working in Australia’s number one tourist destination so you will not be short of things to do and with money in your pocket you can travel further too. On the Gold Coast it self there is surfing and plenty of water sports. Locally too there are opportunities to skydive, horse ride and quad bike. The Gold Coast has plenty of exciting pleasure parks and rides. Have a look at www.hellogoldcoast.com.au for inspiration! Further afield there is Byron Bay, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast as well as the magnificent Fraser Island to visit and explore.

In Melbourne (about 30 minutes from the school, you can shop or visit the museums and galleries, you can visit the parks and the harbour and go to restaurants and clubs.  Or you can use the busses and trains to visit the surrounding area.  Much of your work will be taking the students on expeditions so you may just want to chill at the weekend.

In Shepparton there is a young population and a good nightlife.  The people in this small town are incredibly welcoming and there are good shops and restaurants.  It is an easy 2 hour train journey in to Melbourn, or you could go and explore some other local towns.  It would be useful to be able to drive but not essential.

In the Great Australian outback you can expect to work some weekends so free time will always be at a premium. There will be lots to explore in the local area but the entertainment mainly comes from you! If you can drive then you can go further and do a lot more sightseeing.

In the zoos around Brisbane and Ipswich you can expect to work shifts and during some weekends- you will however receive free time in lieu.   There is plenty to explore in the Brisbane region- you can venture South to the Gold Coast and Byron Bay and North to the Sunshine Coast and the magnificent Fraser Island. You will not be short of things to do!
