What happens at the pre-departure course?

The aim of the course is for you to meet your fellow volunteers/ workers in a relaxed setting, learn more about your placement and feel more confident about the challenge ahead. We like to invite returned volunteers and workers to tell you about their experiences.

The course will teach you what to expect from your placement and the country you are going to, as well as covering medical and safety advice.

How long does it last?

The course lasts 2 days for those going to developing world countries (China, Ghana, Honduras, India, Kenya and Thailand) and 1 day for placements elsewhere (Australia, Latvia and New Zealand).

Where will it take place?

The courses take place at various locations around the South East of England. You will be informed well in advance of the date and location of the course. Contact us for specific details.

Do I have to go?

Yes. If not, you will be missing out on important briefing, as well as the chance to get to know the others in the group. If you have genuine difficulty with attending, then we can make alternative arrangements.
