Work is mainly during the week and some weekends (for the big soccer events) so there is plenty of free time to enjoy. Lugazi is a small town with a few bars and restaurants to explore but things are limited. There is local internet access.
For those sports mad you will enjoy watching the football matches (both at national and local league).
You can go in to Kampala - an easy bus ride away. The journey on a good day will take about one hour along the highway.
The night life in Kampala is simply amazing. There are regular music concerts to enjoy.
Lake Victoria, with its beaches and islands, are relatively easy to get to.
The source of the Nile at Jinja is less than an hour away - and there is some of the most amazing white water rafting experiences awaiting you. This is not for the soft hearted! Jinja is described as the 'adrenalin capital of East Africa' - and its on your doorstep! You can even do a bungee over the River Nile!
Mabira Forest Reserve is just down the highway from Lugazi - this is home to many species of monkey, birds and butterflies. A tranquil weekend in the tropical rainforest should not be missed.
Further afield you really must go and explore the wild life national parks with a huge range of animals including trekking chimpanzees. Perhaps the pick of the bunch has to be awe inspiring Mountain gorillas to the west of Uganda - great thing to do during your holiday time. See: http://www.gorillatours.com/home.html for ideas.
Further travels are very possible to neighbouring Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sudan and Burundi.
