Any UK passport holder can enter Uganda for a maximum of three months on a tourist visa.
You can live in Uganda as long as you have a reason to stay; the visa extension process beyond 3 months is possible and very easy.
Uganda visas are issued at Missions/Embassies abroad (including London) and also at the Entry/Exit Points e.g. Entebbe Airport, Busia border, Malaba border etc.
We suggest volunteers purchase their visa on entry to the country - for most people you will arrive at Entebbe International Airport. You can purchase the entry visa for US$50 that allows you to stay for upto three months. A simple form to be completed at the airport and takes no longer than 15 minutes.
Friends in Service International will advise you on the visa extension beyond the three months.
For those intending to work at the soccer academy we ask that all volunteers have experience of coaching in soccer (ideally FA certification to Level 1 or above although this is not essential). This confirms your commitment to the programme and your enthusiasm to help in coaching and training in the sport.
We do not ask for any other certification in our other sporting areas - notably basketball or boxing although relevant experiences would be most welcome and well received.
For those intending to work in the music club then an important pre requisite is the need to feel comfortable teaching children and young adults - no formal qualifications are required but an enthusiasm is essential.
