'The children are good and they are going to Matriculation school. It is really wonderful to have Changing World volunteers. They are more dedicated, sincere and very helpful. I like to tell you, what the Head Teacher of Christ King Matriculation said, "that the children are doing well, their english language is good because of your volutneers the children are able to score more marks in their examinations" Especially this batch, that is the volutneers are wonderful, brilliant. they are dedicated. the children from village side do not know how to speak English, but the volunteers taught them how to talk english and general decipline, and general hygine apart from music. one boy from Orrisa saw Matt playing the keyboard and learnt from Matt how to play the musical instrument. The children do not know how to write the Alphabets, colouring, numbers, but now the children are doing well in the school In total I can say that the Volunteers have given their Treasure, Time and Talent. (T,T,T) Matt has done a great job by updating LCC website according to English standard and he has updated all the Bios of the children which i could not have done. He has done nearly 150 children Biodatas. Our volunteers have created a awareness about the Love Care center to everyone in UK and they wanted to do more for the LCC. we are preveledged to have such dedicated volunteers, thank you once again for sending such volunteers and more to come.'

Description:

The Love Care centre is about 50 kilometres from Chennai with plenty of buses.

The boys and girls aged between 3 and 6 years old and there are older children going to a neighbouring school during the day.

125 young people live in a huge hall.

The orphanage is a rented building. Functional. Simple but adequate with two rooms available for volunteers with twin beds in each room. Western toilet but no shower. Food and drinking water provided. Enough work for at least four volunteers.

Friendly children and staff. Children mostly from North East India namely Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur. They speak English.

Ms Sofia the host is keen to welcome volunteers. She is willing to provide a computer with internet facilities for volunteers.

She thinks the volunteers may also consider (if they feel so inclined) teaching computer skills to interested students.
