Volunteers for the teaching assistant positions need to be aged between 17 and 60 years old, physically fit and in good health. You need to possess a good command of spoken English. No teaching experience is required although Teaching English for a Foreign Language (TEFL) would be very helpful. More important is the right attitude – flexibility is the key word. China is full of surprises and volunteers need to be open minded, keen to learn and love working with children. You need to be adaptable (in terms of the requirements of local life and culture), display tolerance and be prepared for the challenges ahead!
For those who wish to work at the zoo this opportunity is available for anyone over the age of 17 who is physically fit, enjoys working out of doors and is eager to learn. You do not need to have any previous experience. The Yantai Zoo has the skilled staff for the orientation and training, and they will provide the interpreter to work with.
For all our volunteers going away on or after Monday 01 September 2008 Changing Worlds will ask you to complete a Criminal Record Bureau check. Click here for more details and an application form.
