Who are we?
David Gill, founding director and now one of two directors of Changing Worlds, spent several years teaching in South East Asia with Voluntary Service Overseas before continuing a successful teaching career in the UK. As a secondary school teacher and head of department he was responsible for organising and leading many expeditions overseas. Since 1999 David has been responsible for sending hundreds of people on gap years and careerbreaks.
Shirley, David's wife, is the other director of Changing Worlds. Like David, Shirley has travelled worldwide. She has taught whilst overseas and has taken the family on long haul trips to Australia and the Pacific!
Our overseas representatives are carefully selected for their local knowledge, experience and rapport with young people. They will help you settle in, providing an initial orientation, meeting up with you during your placement and supporting you if you have a problem. It can make all the difference to your time abroad to have a friendly and supportive representative. Many Changing Worlds volunteers stay in touch with them once they return.
